Guitarist and educator Anthony Rubbo has been an up-and-coming voice in New York’s music scene since 2009. Originally from the Atlantic City, New Jersey area, Anthony has proved himself a versatile, reliable musician who strives to make any situation as creative and artistic as possible.
Anthony is currently a sub guitarist at "School of Rock" on Broadway and has subbed on the Broadway productions of "Mamma Mia!" and "Cabaret." He has performed workshops and showcases of numerous other shows including Kerrigan and Loudermilk's "The Bad Years," "Spring Awakening" for NYU Tisch, the world premier of "Pregnancy Pact" at the Weston Playhouse in Weston, VT, and Neil Berg's "The 12".
Anthony has performed at many of the most famous NYC venues such as Webster Hall, Bowery Ballroom, Highline Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg, The Warsaw, The Bitter End, and The Knitting Factory. He has also performed at festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Firefly, South by Southwest, Austin City Limits, and Outside Lands, among others. Anthony has also performed on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with Interscope recording artist Ryn Weaver.
Anthony studied music education at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ, where he graduated magna cum laude. He also holds a Master’s degree in jazz performance from New York University, where he served as an adjunct guitar instructor. He maintains a private teaching studio, in addition to being faculty at The Studio in New Canaan, CT. He has had the privilege of studying privately with guitarists Bruce Arnold, Peter Bernstein, and John Scofield, as well as composition with pianist Kenny Werner and vibraphonist Stefon Harris.
